Growing Together Farm
Growing Together is an adult day program that will focus on helping people become successful farmers. The participating gardeners will get experience starting vegetables, flowers, and herbs from seed in a greenhouse. They will also gain experience with these same plants and many others in outdoor gardens.
Gardeners enjoy the produce and flowers they cultivate and donate some to non profits and members of the community. They will also observe how other gardeners and farmers are doing this by visiting various farms and gardens around Sonoma County and the North Bay.
Gardeners will also get the opportunity to work with some farm animals and understand the care and maintenance of animals such as chickens, sheep, and goats.
Growing Together farmers will be involved in activities such as:
- Greenhouse gardening
- Outdoor gardening
- Animal care
- Visiting local Farmers Markets
- Visiting local farms
- Learning to cook with produce from the garden
- Learning how to garden through video teaching
- Visiting professional gardens such as San Francisco Botanical Gardens, Luther Burbank Gardens, Kendall Jackson Gardens, and several others.
